OpenAgri Showcases Open-Source Agricultural Innovation at the AgStack OSS AI Summit in Prague

Prague, Czech Republic – 6 October 2026

The OpenAgri project participated in the AgStack OSS AI Summit, held on 6 October 2026 at the Prague Congress Centre, as a co-located event of the Linux Foundation’s Open Source Summit Europe 2026. The event brought together open-source developers, researchers, technology providers, and agricultural stakeholders to explore how open digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), and interoperability can accelerate innovation and digital transformation in agriculture.

As part of the Summit, the OpenAgri team delivered a series of presentations highlighting the project’s latest achievements, technical developments, open-source contributions, and practical applications.

Presenting OpenAgri's Progress and Technological Developments

Christopher Brewster opened the OpenAgri contributions with an overview of the project’s recent developments and its roadmap. The presentation outlined the project’s progress towards delivering an open, interoperable, and reusable ecosystem of digital agricultural services, while highlighting its strategic priorities and upcoming activities.

Nikos Kalatzis presented the OpenAgri technical architecture and the current implementation status of its open-source services. The presentation demonstrated how OpenAgri’s modular, service-oriented architecture enables the integration of agricultural data, applications, and decision-support functionalities. Particular attention was given to the services already available through the AgStack GitHub organisation, including farm management, weather information, irrigation management, pest and disease management, and reporting capabilities.

Felipe Pontes focused on OpenAgri’s engagement with the open-source community, presenting the project’s approach to sharing software components, encouraging code contributions, and supporting collaborative development. He also introduced the OpenAgri User Interface, illustrating how the platform brings together functionalities from different services in a unified environment, making OpenAgri’s digital tools more accessible to end users.

Yorgos Marinellis delivered a live demonstration of the Agstack/OpenAgri Pest and Disease Management Service, showcasing its practical application and integration with AgStack’s Asset Registry. The demonstration illustrated how pest and disease modelling capabilities can be connected with geospatially identified agricultural assets, supporting the development of interoperable, location-aware tools for agricultural monitoring and decision support.

Strengthening Collaboration with the AgStack Open-Source Ecosystem

OpenAgri’s participation in the Summit highlighted the growing collaboration between the project and AgStack, a Linux Foundation initiative dedicated to building open digital infrastructure for agriculture.

By making its software services available through the AgStack GitHub ecosystem, OpenAgri contributes reusable technological building blocks that can be adopted, adapted, and extended by developers, researchers, and agricultural technology providers worldwide.

The integration demonstrated between OpenAgri’s pest and disease capabilities and AgStack’s Asset Registry represents a practical example of how independently developed open-source components can work together to deliver more comprehensive agricultural digital solutions.

Beyond the technical presentations, the Summit provided an opportunity to engage with the broader open-source community, exchange knowledge, and explore further collaboration around interoperability, open standards, AI-enabled agricultural services, and sustainable digital infrastructure.

Advancing an Open and Collaborative Digital Future for Agriculture

Participation in the AgStack OSS AI Summit reinforces OpenAgri’s commitment to open-source innovation, technological interoperability, and community-driven development.

Through its growing portfolio of openly available services and its collaboration with the AgStack ecosystem, OpenAgri aims to lower technological barriers, reduce duplication of development efforts, and support the wider adoption of accessible digital solutions across the agricultural sector.

OpenAgri continues to invite developers, researchers, technology providers, and agricultural stakeholders to explore its open-source services, contribute to their development, and help build a more open and interoperable digital future for agriculture.
